The Rock Island is the better of the 3 for sure. I shot one I had in competition for a while and it never failed. The Taurus 1911's I've seen were lot's of trouble. The ATI I've never seen or handled but no one I shoot with has thought enough of it to even try it competitively. If you can afford it the Springfield Mil-Spec is a good solid 1911.
I have a PT1911 in 38 super and it has been trouble free I also have Multiple RIA 1911s and the RIA Ultra series ($600) of guns are (IMO) the best value in 1911s. If you have a problem with a RIA the costumer service is 2nd to none
I have been in the same situation, looking for the best budget 1911. I recently found a review of the top 5 on Guns America. The RIA came in at the number 5 position. The one that they picked as number 1 was the "MetroArms AC45G 1911 American Classic 8+1 45ACP 5". The ATI did not place in the top 5.
