Yes, the Smith & Wesson Model 27 Classic .357 Magnum Revolver is checkered on the topstrap. This checkering, along with the checkering on the barrel rib, was a distinctive feature of the original Model 27 and is carried over to the reintroduction. The reintroduction model uses a crosshatched pattern on the frame to simulate the checkering, but true checkering is applied to the barrel.
