Trigger pul is actually decent on this Richard. It has S&W's new SDT "Self Defense trigger" that is a little long but light and smooth. I would look at some you tube videos to get a better idea of how the trigger actually performs.

Hi Richard, This would be excellent for your wife. It comes with the New SDT Trigger which is for Self Defense. They're very smooth with a crisp break once you hit the wall. I think this would be a winner for her. Thank you
