Yes, and with sabots or rifled slugs, the more "open" the choke tube, the better the accuracy ("Improved Cylinder" recommended.) The "full" or "modified" choke tubes are preferred for buckshot loads. Slugs, buckshot and steel shot loads are not recommended for use with an extra full "turkey tube" installed, due to the tube's tight constriction. Hi Daniel and welcome. With proper maintenance, this shotgun will last several years with firing either buckshot or slugs. I have this and several other Mossberg shotguns and most have been owned for decades with a few thousands of rounds with no issues. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!

Hold up, I think Ric F. Has the answer, or 6 😆 I own a Maverick and it eats everything I load in!! Bird, Buck, Slugs (Rifled Foster Type) with no issues!! Maybe your friend just wasn't properly Maintaining his Maverick??

Hi Daniel, Slugs and buckshot will be no issue. This gun has a fixed cylinder choke that is optimized for slugs/buckshot. If your friends gun failed over time, I highly doubt it was because of slugs/buckshot. Stay safe & have a great day!
