You can get the grips for the lock and they will work on both guns

Ruger stopped putting in the locks in 2013 so unless it is a 5 year old gun it does not have the lock the key will look like a handcuff key with the ruger logo

if its a new gun it will not have the lock. did you get a "key" for the lock? a lock grip will work just fine on a gun without a lock
