Hi John and welcome. No "U-cut": While some early Gen 5 models had a "U-shaped cutout" in the front of the grip to aid in magazine removal, this feature has been removed from this later production model. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!

this is a newer gun without the grip cutout it was dropped/changed around 2019
