The Rock Island Armory GI Standard FS 9mm, with its standard spur hammer and grip safety, may cause hammer bite, especially for individuals with a larger hand size or a specific grip style. Hammer bite occurs when the skin on the web of the hand gets pinched between the hammer and the grip safety during recoil. While some users may not experience it, the smaller grip safety spur on the GI model could be a contributing factor for others. It does not have trigger bite though. Hope this was helpful. Hi Rodney and welcome. Much less on this 1911 design. The beavertail keeps your grip low, and the trigger is essentially a straight back pull. Proper firearm grip further mitigates trigger bite. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!
