Good evening to you!! The Federal Gold Medal Lead Wadcutter Match .38 Special ammunition has a muzzle velocity of 690 feet per second (fps) and a muzzle energy of 156 foot-pounds (ft-lbs), according to Federal Premium and other retailers. These figures are typically achieved from a 4-inch barrel.

The Federal web site says 690 fps, not sure how 710 gets best answer. I guess Federal doesn't know the velocity of their own ammo. 🤔
