Hi Tracy and welcome. Yes, a 9mm upper, like those from CMMG's Banshee line, can work with an AR-15 (Mk4) lower receiver, but it typically requires a magazine well adapter or a dedicated 9mm lower. CMMG's Radial Delayed Blowback (RDB) system, used in many of their 9mm uppers, is designed to be compatible with standard AR-15 lower receivers when used with their 9AR conversion magazines, or with dedicated 9mm lower platforms like Mk9, MkGs, or Mk17.
