It seems this is the Gen II. The Standard Manufacturing DP-12 Gen 2 shotgun features a lighter, patented polymer and aluminum frame and a new barrel contour compared to the Gen 1, which was primarily aircraft aluminum. Both generations offer the same smooth reliability, double-barrel pump action, and high capacity, but the Gen 2's construction provides a weight reduction. This is a good question Felix. According to the provided UPC (869481000165) and model number (DP12TAN), the DP-12 shotgun you are asking about is the first generation. I had to look up how to differentiate between the generations and the TAN color helped tip the needle so please take this info with a grain of salt: First Generation: The original DP-12 featured an all-aluminum receiver. Your specific DP12TAN model was first made available in the desert tan finish before the introduction of the Gen II. Second Generation (Gen II): Introduced a new, lighter frame that is a composite of polymer and 7075 aluminum. It also has a recontoured barrel. Gen II models are explicitly advertised as such by the manufacturer. Good question 👍🏻
Hi Felix, The Standard Manufacturing Model DP12TAN with UPC 869481000165 is a Generation II shotgun. The Gen II comes with spreader choke tubes (standard chokes on Gen I) , weighs 9 lbs 12 oz (9lbs 3 oz for gen I), and has downward ejection for ambidextrous use (standard ejection on Gen I). The Gen II also is enhanced with more accessory rails than the Gen I. Stay safe & have a great day!
