Out hunting, a significantly higher budget to allow for safe and responsible hunting in bear country, observational skills and respecting distance, bear spray, and lastly a minimum of a reliable pump 12ga with slugs or better a rifle in energetic hunting cartridges like .30-06 or similar with dedicated ammunition for large game/predators - both of which will require sufficient ammunition and training time to make accurate shots under stress with.
