I would definitely go with the S&W. It has an MLOK handguard that allows you to add accessories if you so desire (Flashlight, foregrip, etc) And it comes with a red dot sight, range bag, and 3 magazines.
Hi David and welcome. Of the two mentioned, the SW would be my choice due to additional features and a much less expensive upgrade path if the upgrade bug ever hits. If you know for certain that it would only be used for home and range use then the Ruger is an excellent choice and the ammo you could purchase with the difference makes the deal even sweeter. The same amount of ammo with the S&W would put you in the $1100 plus range whereas the Ruger with ammo puts you at the S&W without ammo range.
