For "00" buckshot, an Improved Cylinder (IC) or Modified (MOD) choke is typically your best bet.
Modified or improved modified.
For standard 00-buckshot, an Improved Cylinder (IC) or Modified (MOD) choke is generally the best starting point. This constriction allows the pellets to safely pass without excessive deformation, yielding the most consistent and manageable patterns for a magazine-fed shotgun like your Boss25.The perfect choke largely depends on your specific ammunition and intended purpose:Best Chokes by Use CaseHome Defense (Close Range): Use a Cylinder (CYL) or Improved Cylinder (IC). Open chokes are highly recommended if you are using specialized ammunition with FlightControl wads, as tighter constrictions can actually ruin the wad's performance and widen your pattern prematurely.Hunting (Medium Range): Use a Modified (MOD) or Full (FULL) choke. If you are not using wad-restricted ammo, a tighter choke will keep your 00-buck pellets grouped more tightly together at longer distances.Slugs: If you plan to swap out your shot, stick to Cylinder (CYL) or Improved Cylinder (IC). Tighter chokes can damage
Hi Paul and welcome. For me, Modified chokes tend to pattern 00 buck best. The exception is when using my preferred load, Federal 00 Buck with the "Flite-Control" wad, which patterns extremely tight through Cylinder chokes as by design of the wad. I would still suggest you pattern your specific shotgun for your best results. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy.
Hi Paul, for shooting 00-buckshot, an Improved Cylinder choke is often recommended as it provides a good balance between spread and accuracy. However, experimenting with different chokes may yield the best results for your specific setup. Stay safe & have a great day!
