According to the UPC No, this revolver does not have a transfer bar safety. Instead, it uses a traditional four-position hammer (with four distinct clicks). It relies on a classic historical mechanism where the first click acts as a traditional safety notch to keep the hammer slightly off the primer. To meet standard safety and import regulations, Pietta relies on this hammer-notch mechanical design and a 2-position cylinder pin rather than utilizing a modern internal transfer bar. As with vintage Colt Single Action Army clones, it is generally recommended to carry this style of revolver with the hammer resting on an empty chamber.
