Hi Michael and welcome. Commercial. The Alpha Maxx is legally and functionally a semi-automatic modern sporting rifle or pistol variant built largely around polymer upper and lower receivers. True mil-spec rifles require forged aluminum receivers according to strict military parameters. Though the core rifle layout is commercial, it uses a mil-spec trigger group and standard dimensions for high-wear components. This means it will accept the majority of standard aftermarket mil-spec AR-15 triggers, magazines, and furniture upgrades. Cheers and stay safe!

The American Tactical Inc (ATI) Alpha Maxx AR-15 rifle (UPC 810113111025) is built with a mil-spec receiver extension (buffer tube) and utilizes a mil-spec collapsible stock. If you are looking to replace or upgrade the buttstock, you should choose a stock designed to fit a mil-spec diameter buffer tube rather than a commercial one.
