Hi Jeremy, the barrel is stamped 223 so you should not shoot 5.56 which is higher pressure (in most cases) than the 223. I would call Ruger directly for their advice as you don't want to jeopardize your warranty at Telephone: 336-949-5200 (Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm ET)
