I have owned many Remington 870s including the 870 expresses the wingmasters have a finish that is as good as any in the industry. the express models have more of a parkerized finish which will require a little more care to prevent surface rust I kept a oily rag handy to wipe it down before putting it in the safe and I never had a rust issue

Not recently. Remington uses a much better coating process on current firearms compared to earlier models. By habit i always clean my firearms before storage and use inexpensive anti rust bags. They work wonders even in high salt coastal areas. I would not worry about the 870.

I've had a Remington 870 for many years. No rust on my 870. That being said, any firearm that's not properly stored and cared for can rust.

I have 2 Remington 1100s from the 1960s that have no rust
