This is Direct Impingement. I own two Ruger AR 556 rifles and they do not disappoint. They require little out of the box treatment. They may be priced lower than a lot of AR type rifles, however, they do live up to the Ruger name. I might be a little biased though, my safe has a lot of Ruger firearms in it, lol
