It depends on the gun. If you put the scope on a Marlin lever action low scope mounts would be ideal an AR-15 would require extra high mounts a bolt action should be okay with medium high.
with a 33mm scope you can use lower rings and still clear the action so now it would depend on the gun and your eye alignment with the scope I suggest calling leupold and asking their advice bases on your gun and scope contact them at 1-800-LEUPOLD
