Marinecote is a baked on finish similar to parkerizing but more resistant to salt spray
Durability and corrosion resistance such as what Marinecote offers requires a more exacting and involved process for coating the firearm. I own a 2011 model 590A1 Mariner ala Marinecote and I can attest to the fact it's quite the durable coating. I'm not easy on my guns. If you live in a humid environment then I would say that it's worth the extra cash. If you don't then a regular coating with proper cleaning will be fine.
