Chrome lined will give you better longevity Gregory but ever so slightly less accuracy. Regular cleaning will help the SS of course but will still lag behind chrome lined though in life.
you are correct chrome lined barrel is better than the stainless and will outlast it
Hi Gregory, Yes Chrome Lined will give you a longer life from the barrel although you will lose a slight accuracy.

The stainless steel is easier to machine so it makes a much better barrel and is usually more accurate. Cleaning the barrel will not make it last longer because heat and erosion is the problem. The steeper the rifling twist the quicker it will heat and wear also. Get a rifling twist that will stabilize the bullets you shoot most. A 1:8 is a good compromise. Do not shoot more than 2 magazines through it back to back and let it cool before shooting it again and it will last. The chrome lined barrels are machined then plated so it's a bit more difficult to make a perfectly dimensioned barrel and they are usually less accurate but I have a carbine length M-4 style AR that is chromed and shoots sub MOA. Remember you can ruin chrome too by dumping too much ammo through it but it will take more effort.
