I prefer a free float rail rather than the one on it. The 7.62x39 is a good round. It's California compliant if you need it to be. I like the flat top so there's that. Windham Weaponry seems to get good reviews from what I've seen. At a price around $650, it looks like a good buy.
Chrome lined barrel, nice rail, comes with case and sling. Windham makes a nice gun, and for what you're getting its a good price. If I could afford to pick one up right now, I'd do it. I prefer the larger mag though I'm in PA. If in Cali, this is a great gun to have.
Windham makes good guns, but at that price point in that caliber I don't really see a compelling reason to not just get a Wasr-10.
Many good rifles did not become popular, because like this one, magazine interchangeability with other AR's is an issue (it uses AR-47 type mags) so the tactical/prepper/survivalists tend to ignore some perfectly good firearms. This is a good rifle.
For the price and the fact that Windham makes good quality rifles with some nice extras, this seems to be a bargain for an M4-type rifle. Later you can always "upgrade" with optics, flip up sights, different color furniture, fore grip/hand guard, etc., and still have invested less than most other brands charge for a basic M4 rifle.
