yes it will be a great range gun for you since you have the 22lr version it should only take you a short time to get comfortable with the 9mm walthers are good quality guns and you will be pleased with it
The only difference you will actually notice is the upgrade in caliber Steven. This pistol has the same feel/function that you are used too on the 22LR version. Meaning it will be a more powerful familiar friend. I think you will be just fine purchasing this pistol.
I only know 1 guy who shoots this pistol and likes it for competition but know dozens who shoot the SIG 320 or Glock 34 and love them. Walther had a side match at the CZ Iron Sight Nationals and you had to use that pistol and few of us liked it. Buy the SIG or Glock for the same price.
