I'm planning on buying a hi-point carbine 40s&w. I'm an Ohioan under 21 but over 18. Can I buy the ammunition online if I buy it with the carbine? And would it be smart to call the dealer ahead of time to ask if it would be able to transfer if it's clear it's for the carbine?

legally yes you can but not from Buds (verified with Buds agent) as buds has no way to process the ammo as anything but handgun ammo which would be  a illegal sale

Micah, the ammunition purchase you can make locally. The Hi point will ship directly to your FFL. You can purchase ammunition currently at you local gunshops.
