I've lived in Ohio for 60 years Could this be the answer? Does the law say NO SAWED OFF SHOTGUNS( these are lawfully manufactured under federal law) Could it be that it is illegal if YOU make the barrel shorter with a hacksaw or ax then it is illegal? Could it be that I will have to go to my gun shop ( in Miamisburg OHIO and purchase this shotgun where they are hanging on the wall?

If you are speaking about the Mossberg shockwave it is illegal under Ohio law but legal under federal law. It is 100% illegal under both Ohio and Federal law to saw off the barrel or own a shotgun with under 18 inches barrel without 1st having the proper paperwork to own a  NFA  weapon NFA license takes 6-12 months and a lot of paperwork to get I suggest that you ask the Dealer where you noticed the "sawed off shotgun"
