Hi Tom, This is the first i've heard of this issue.
Hi Thomas. I have looked at the 2240 and the holster (not designed for a Bolt Pistol). The bolt is an issue clearance wise.
can the holster be modified (cut ) to allow the bolt to clear
Try putting this kit on it. It should be ok https://www.amazon.com/Crosman-Steel-Breech-Caliber-Fits/dp/B008CP6ZNQ/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
I'm sure the holster could be cut/modified to accommodate the bolt. This was specifically made for the Crosman 2240 but don't know if it still is available Tom : https://www.google.com/search?q=full+flap+holster+for+crosman+2240&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=IY7AxfeiD2AYiM%253A%252CU-seT221if6o7M%252C_&usg=__CkxPRmOXWWmczQQrZrg_SJv4VnE%3D&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwijiuip0rjaAhWtSt8KHRNLDI0Q9QEIKTAA#imgrc=IY7AxfeiD2AYiM:
I would cut a slit for the bolt the stitch the edges using a upholstery needle and thread
