No it is not possible to have a family member pick it up. the person who orders the gun must be the person who picks up the gun it looks to much like a "straw purchase" if someone else picks it up That being said I suggest contacting the ffl holder that you are having the gun shipped to and see if he would "hold" the gun for you until you can pick it up. I not then Contact Buds at 1-859-368-0371 9am-9pm EST Mon-Fri. or use the Blue Chat now button and explain your problem they may have a suggestion or they may need to CNX the layaway We are not buds employees we are volunteers that answer questions
follow up a possible way around this is to get your family member a gift certificate to purchase the gun.The gun would then belong to the family member which they could then pick up . After you return from deployment the family member could do what is necessary to LEGALLY transfer ownership of the gun to you.
This is not allowed Bryan. Contact the local FFL you selected and let them know you are "Military" and they should be able to accommodate holding your firearm until your anticipated return date. Thank you in advance for your "Service"!
I would call the FFL and ask them.
