Ruger's Owner's Manual Advice About +P Ammo ---- Ruger advises in the owner's manual, which you should always read any time you get a new gun, that you can shoot +P ammo through the Security 9mm handgun with the understanding that you will accelerate wear and tear. No gun makers state that you should fire +P+ ammo in their guns(warranty support reasons). This review tested Buffalo Bore +P+ ammo without issue. hotter loads will accelerate wear on any gun (that is a fact of life) but I seriously doubt that you will ever "wear out" the Ruger It took 40 plus years of hot 22lr ammo at over 10,000 rounds a year to wear out my single six.
