I don't know what model your referencing but a .357 will shoot .38 but a .38 will not shoot .357
A lot of (not all) but a lot of 357 shoot 38 but not the other way around (38 pistols don't shoot 357 safely)
".38 pistols don't shoot .357 safely" ....really? .38 revolvers won't shoot .357 magnums AT ALL....they will not fit in the cylinder as the bullet would stick out the end and the cylinder and would NEVER close. The shorter .38 can be shot any revolver chambered for .357 mag. The .357 mag was developed by simply lengthening the case of the .38 Special to hold more powder and create more pressure. Same bullets ...longer case., longer chambers..
