Hi John, as close as I can get you are 3 clean kills on Black Bear here in NC with Brenneke KO Slugs. These 3" Black Magic are more powerful but I have no direct experience with these or brown bear. I watched Hemo Korth and his wife Edna put 10, 12 gauge slugs into a Grizzly on the show "Below Zero" before it died. I'd say that it probably would be fine unless you are shooting the end that bites because the front end has lots of bone and muscle to go through before you get to any vitals. Head shots would be fatal no matter what you hit it with.

they will do the job on Black bears as long as your shotgun is accurate with them. some guns just are not accurate with them and you will need to try them for yourself
