I understand the 9E comes in a cardboard box, the pistol I am talking about was in fact an SR9 Model 3321 and it came in a cardboard box with 2 mags and everything a stainless model came with except the box/case.

Both the 9E and SR9 come in a cardboard box, the SR9 used to come in a plastic case, but not anymore.  The previous question answers are incorrect.  Unboxing videos on youtube are not always a good source of info, and companies make changes to their packaging/products all the time and usually without notice.

Yes a while back they switched to cardboard boxes even specs that state a plastic box are not always accurate as the manufacturers make changes all the time and web sites do not always update their listings
