I have a 9mm M2 S&W Shield. 1000 rounds s thru the pistol. It is flawless. No rejects no misfires. The shield has a 3.1" barrel. I'm considering buying an M&P 9mm M2 4.25" OR r the full size (FDE) 5" to improve target shooting accuracy ang groupings. The M&P longer barrel, compared to my Shield, I would think would be a much more accurate pistol. We are talking about either a 4.25" or 5" barrel compared to the 3.1" barrel on the shield. Is their a big diff as far as accuracy bet 4.25 vs 5" M&P?

Not huge shooting close up Dennis but, I would go with the 5" barrel.  The 5" barrel will increase velocity by 35 to 55fps and the accuracy will show up at longer range over the 4.25' barrel.

it will be more accurate when shooting over 20 yards or so. depending on how you handle the recoil it may be more accurate at shorter distances (shorter barrel has more muzzle rise)
