The rifle does fire 7.62 NATO (aka Military)
This rifle will fire both types safely and is okayed by the manufacturer.
It will safely fire any 7.62x51 Nato rounds that will fit into the 308 chamber. The specs for the Nato cartridge(and chamber) can exceed the headspace of the 308 round. Most Nato ammo made in the US will fit the chamber because most manufacture it to the bottom of the 7.62 specs which accommodates the 308 round. I've seen European ammo cause problems if it is made to the high end of the spec and the gun has a minimum chamber..
This rifle will SAFELY fire 7.62 NATO provided it is chambered for it and the manufacturer will specify that in the manual or on line. The 7.62 NATO cartridge is NOT necessarily manufactured to SAMMI specs - US-made probably, other places - maybe/maybe not. Because of that 7.62 NATO should NOT be fired in a weapon which is marked / rated 308 only. Doing so may cause an over pressure.
