Hi Jason, No this is the Mil Spec model which is between The Champion Operator and the Range Officer models. The only difference between the 2 models is the Ca model has a Loaded Chamber Indicator - Here's the Specs - https://www.springfield-armory.com/products/1911-mil-spec-45-acp/#PB9108L
yes it is a 1911a1 model "The M1911A1 changes to the original design consisted of a shorter trigger, cutouts in the frame behind the trigger, an arched mainspring housing, a longer grip safety spur (to prevent hammer bite), a wider front sight, a shortened hammer spur" and yes I think its CA approved but it does not show up under the buds CA approved pistol list so I suggest that you contact Buds prior to ordering customer service (859) 368-0371 available 9AM to 9PM CST Monday through Friday or use the blue chat now button . we are not buds employees we are volunteers that answer questions
