If you only plan to shoot "Factory" ammunition Daniel, the "Short" Cylinder model will be fine and save some weight on the pistol. The "Long" Cylinder is what reloaders, they may use to "long load" real heavy custom loads.

The short cylinder saves some weight and seems a little more balanced in aesthetics and balance. The longer cylinder could allow for some longer handloads of you plan on doing some tinkering with it.
