I looking for a good rim fire scope for ruger10/22 with BX 25 trigger. I think very good optics (clear to edge of view, no parallax) with 4X will trump a mediocre or average 3x9 for fine shot placement out to 50 yds. That should avoid moving zero with magnification change and be lighter weight and less bulky.
Is this a good plan? Why is the Leupold $200 with so many scopes less than $100? Is this buying a brand name or really good optics?

a little of both the Leopold has great lenses but in my opinion you pay extra for the name. for hunting a better fixed (low) power scope will be great but for the ultimate fine shot placement there is no replacement for more magnification (higher power)
