Yes and yes Mike. According to the guys at UTAS, the XTR-12 uses a DPMS AR-10 lower. In fact, you can get a DPMS .308 upper slap it on the XTR-12 lower and it will work. It should be very accurate with a quality upper.

Hey Mike, yes. This is an AR10 lower so you could put a .308 upper on it. For deer and hogs under 100 yds, w/ .308? absolutely. Stock? there are better options, but if your comfortable with it and you're using the right ammo, you should be set. Hope that helps!
