You are supposed to pay taxes on your own for all internet purchases at the end of the year but at this time it is only usually being applied if you purchase from a place inside your own state.
Typically for online purchases, you aren't charged sales tax unless the business that you're buying from has a location in your resident state. The transfer fee from your local FFL doesn't charge state sales tax, only the FFL fee. So unless you tell the state because of some need that you have to send your state of residence extra money, you won't pay taxes on the purchase of that rifle.
It is TOTALLY dependent on your State Laws. It is best to ask your FFL. They should know the answer. In Nevada yes there are taxes. A quick internet search shows that probably not in Virginia but I would still ask. http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/virginia-internet-sales-tax.html
No. Most FFLs in Virginia will only charge a transfer/background check fee (typically $15-35). Only if the firearm was purchased in VA will they charge state tax. Bud's will not charge you tax.
