How does it compare to the 1911, as far as grip size. I have large hands and grip size and trigger location are important.

Neil, this pistol has a 3 3/4  (full-size) Grip. The grip angle is nearly identical to the standard 1911 and will get you 95% the feel of a full size 1911.
