Mine always went as cash.

Mine go as cash and I've used them twice to buy items on layaway and LOVE it and the layaway process. Bud's is great. If you buy a $100 gift card now you get a 1 year Team Buds membership per an email I just saw from them.

I gave my son one, purchased with a credit card. He used it as cash on a pistol purchase.

Gift Cards do not get the cash discount. They get the retail price.
