Will this weapon handle heavy rounds, i. e. 240 grain or heavier?

Yes it will Charles. A feature description card attached to the gun's trigger guard when it arrives reads "+P Rated." I would however, pattern the pistol with various weight bullets to determine best accuracy out of this short a barrel.
