Hi Paul it's not much different. The Echo is just the newest model over the sport model. You got a great firearm.
The main difference is the thinner barrel.
No functional or reliability differences whatsoever Paul. Unless you are running constant mag dumps to heat up the barrels, you will notice not a single difference.
They are both good rifles. The Echo 316H with the heavier barrel is what I'm running here with iron sights. It's been a fine rifle (shoots 3/4 inch groups at 100 yards with a scope). I'll run it in 3-gun tomorrow in Iron Sight. The basic 316 has the M-4 barrel profile which is lighter. The Sport is basically the same rifle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ul1HFF-rEDU
