10rd max for state compliancy.

The mag is absolutely detachable. This gun is NJ compliant which means it gets two assault features, in this case those are the detachable mag and the pistol grip. The concessions that make it okay are the fixed stock and pinned muzzlebreak.

It will accept higher capacity. But sold with 10rd to meet certain needs of buyers in states that have a 10 rd max capacity law. You can get larger mags for this rifle if your state permits.

It can accept higher capacity mags and Stag Arms list a 30 round mag for it. Its just shipped with a 10 round for compliance with NY, NJ, CA, CT, CO, MD, IL, HI, & Wash D.C. I don't know if you are aware, but this is a left hand model rifle.
