Is there a difference between this model and the 300 Win Mag (other than the obvious). Would like to start with 300 and get a barrel later for the 338. Can that be done or do I need to start with the 338 and also get a 300 Win Mag barrel or other magnum chambered rounds? Just want versatility out of one action/rifle, if it's possible.

You would need to start with the 338 as the 300 will not fit Gary.

Gary, start with the .338 as the .338 Lapua version uses a different size action & bolt face and barrel shank.
