Honestly, the BEST thing to do is to buy a Gift Card for him from here with the Item number attached to it so he can order it because otherwise you will probably have to pay the FFL 2 times to transfer it (once for you and another to transfer to him) because it will be tied to you if you order it. Also, if you buy a gift card over $100, you get a Free Team Buds membership for 1 year if it is before Father's Day. Can't go wrong there!!
The best thing to do is to buy a gift card for him because it will be against the rules. A bonus is that you can email the gift card to him and if it is over $100 (it will be) , you get a free Team Buds membership for 1 year! You can make the gift card for the total amount of the item and even associate it with the item you want for him. Easiest way and saves you time and gets you a TB membership! Otherwise it will probably not work
What you are trying to do will NOT work. The buyer and receiver cannot be different people. You can buy it and give it as a gift once you receive it but I don't think the BAFT will be favorable of what you are describing. The best way is probably the Bud's gift certificate. It is actually a code that can be easily e-mailed to him and which he can then use to buy the gun himself. There is the added benefit of getting a Team Bud's membership right now with the gift card purchase. I did the reverse of this for my son last year. It is definitely the easy and right was to go.
