Brett, this has a very high probability of being a "Drop In" fit for the AO Gov 1911. However, the manufacturer of this states that due to possible slight variations in pistol tolerances, minor fitting may be required.

The only fitting should be at the rear of the hood if at all. If you do not have a tool to check the barrel to bolt face alignment pull a bullet from a case and shoot it with the primer only to make sure the firing pin strikes the primer near center.

All 1911 parts should be fitted I have a scar from a "drop in" 1911 barrel that caused a gun to come apart on the range Next to me
