just keep it a thinking about as there are no rounds in a 45acp that should be used to hunt deer. I carry a 45acp and it is to slow for effective expansion of any of the hollow point loads on a deer It will not produce clean kills and lead to the deer suffering needlessly.

Check your state laws first to see what restrictions they have for handgun hunting big game. Many have a minimum foot pounds of energy to be legal. The 45 ACP is not a good cartridge to hunt deer with being considered marginal but I've killed deer at close range with well placed shots with 230 grain Federal Hydrashoks. I'd limit shots to 50 yards. Funny how the 45 is considered a real man stopper but it's marginal to hunt deer which weigh the same.
