Jim, a weak spring, out of tolerance follower will most likely be the culprit. 9 times out of 10 the magazine is the issue and is usually tested by using another mag. Followers and springs are easy replacements. (This pistol was designed with last round hold open).

Yes it has a last round hold open. a bad magazine will cause it to not hold open
