Shaun, this will depend entirely on the level of power the ammunition has. It can range from 9mm +P+ to Heavy 357Magnum Hunting loads. I can tell you it is stout but controllable. i can shoot it as quickly and as accurately as a 9mm. With practice it is no different than any other caliber.
a lot will depend on the load and on the Gun many 10mm loads are just slightly hot 40 S&W loads some are full power loads my 1911 is heavy and tames the recoil well the RIA doublestack 1911 10mm is super heavy and its like shooting 9mm
It's not something you want to shoot in a carry gun because with heavy loads it's uncontrollable (why the FBI gave up on it and the 40 S&W was developed) but in heavy handguns it's very comfortable to shoot. I hunt with a Tanfoglio Witness Hunter in 10mm and it's not a problem to shoot well with heavy loads.
