When I load the gun and chamber the round and pull the trigger the hammer drops but the cartridge won't fire I was wondering if maybe it's the firing pin block safety or something like that and if anybody has had any problems like that with their Remington R1 enhanced 1911

I don't specifically own an R1 Christopher but, 2 things you may want to check :

1) Problem with the hammer would not fall when trigger was pulled :

Make sure the over travel screw is not in too far.

2) Problem with hammer drops when use the slide release (with no mag in place):

Lock the slide back, with the right index finger applies pressure to the SIDE of the trigger, hold the gun firmly and release the slide with your left thumb, do it 3 times and if the hammer stays cocked as it should, then all you need to do is bending the middle finger forward a little more .

If the hammer still follows those 3 times, then the sear and hammer should be checked out by someone that knows something.

is there and mark on the primer after the hammer drops. If the hammer is dropping when the trigger is pulled its not a problem with the safetys and I suggest having Remington take a look at it. It could be a broken or out of spec firing pin call Remington at  TEL: 1-800-243-9700 and they will take care of you
